All I Hear is the Wind (PT. 2)

It was one of those weeks where Junri was visiting the Forest but it was the first, of the many months, where tension had begun to intensify.

Junri's gaze barely trailed over to her, making it a simple side-glance. There was not a lot to take in, other than the fact that she was out-of-breathe and red in the nose. Jiyu's soaked head to toe, but her gaze is fixed on the grassy floor beneath them both.

"Why? Junri pauses, turning to face her fully.

She sits up straight and her trembling form is even more evident (if it was already not) from her quivering bottom lip and the rapid rise and fall of her shoulders.

"Why what?" She retorted, followed by a short cough.

"Why do you love me?" He finishes his question. He kinda wishes he didn't, or, that maybe, pure silence had followed after. However, an echo of a distant stream running was present, accompanying the slow rain.

Jiyu looked down, her shoulders slumping. She hugged herself, rubbing her arms.

"Awkward, isn't it?" She mutters.
"I don't really like that you avoid my questions, dear."

Her head jerked back up in an instant as a few tears began to fall. "I don't like that you still call me 'dear'. I'll never be. You and I know, very well, that we both harbor the same feeling for the other yet-"

She paused, covering her mouth with her hand clenched into a fist as she coughed. Junri's eyebrows furrowed as he bit the side of his cheek. He lifts his arm but drops it the moment she stops.

When she doesn't continue, Junri only sighs. He drifted towards her, pulling her into his arms. When Jiyu doesn't fight back, he wraps his arms around her.

"For one," he begins, "You are right. You'll never be my dear."

He holds her a little tighter, coughing a non-existent lump out of his throat before continuing. "I don't deserve you, I can't be the partner you want."

She lays her head on his chest, hearing his heartbeat.

He lowers his head down, whispering into her ear. "Don't you want a man who whispers sweet nothings in your ear? Someone who presents to you the proclamations of his love in all the ways love can be expressed?

"Like, a song or a poem." She mumbles, giving the area where his heart resides a little comforting pat. She lays her hand there as if to warm the ice that replaces it.

"Don't you want someone who can give you everything you want? They who will care for you till the ends of time? They who'll always be there for you?"

She slowly moves her free hand to his, intertwining it with hers.

"Nevertheless, I still like you." She replies.

In the end, Junri got what he wanted: silence. It was the only thing they could hear as they embraced on the bridge above the river who would carry this moment along as it grows. All of which, underneath her umbrella that he had.

It is always a cloudy day.
